Sunny days & Starry nights ... Tuesday, December 28, 2010
today is 28 dec 2010, 3 more days towards the end of the year. or perhaps more accurately, towards the start of another year. i can't quite capture the 'beauty'/irony/meaning of this transition, but i will try putting it in words. on 31st morning, which is this coming friday, i will wake up to the last day of the year. 31st Dec 2010 - the last of something has alws been like liberation to me, the right to throw my arms up in the air and caution to the wind. it's like celebrating the completion of a mega project or the attainment/accomplishment of a thing worth celebrating. In fact, this period of december has felt like that - the culmination of a semester, the closure of a year's worth of work. .well enough, when i wake up the next morning, which is this coming saturday, all things would have changed at once. at least, the whole mentality and the whole 'mood' of things. In front of me, will be 365 days more worth of challenges and beginnings. It will be a brand new year, as many people will go ' happy new year' . So what does ' happy new year' mean? .For the past few years, 1st Jan has always meant something impt to me as fresh beginnings alws trigger a flow of new aspirations and ideals in me. I will be picturing and imagning the many things i will do in the new year- decorating my newly bought organiser, marking down impt occasions, and getting all excited abt ' the new year' . there's almost alws this unexplainable energy for a fresh beginning, something that goes ' I wil make the most of this year, onward 2011' ! and I will go around wishing people and sending out hopes and receiving them. .but, having been thru' numerous beginnings and having the beginnings end only to have another beginning begin, i'm now reflecting on the sustainability and the real meaning of 1st jan. perhaps a reality check of the new year resolutions and aspirations for the upcoming year. more often than not, the year will start to wind down near the end of february and the dread of a year will start coming in again, and before i know it, i will be hoping for june to come so i get a break from the hustle and bustle of my life - ironically something i have been very eager to jump into on 1st jan. .i think i am getting quite jaded about beginnings and getting excited over them. Shall i just take the transition from 31stdec2010 to 1jan2011 as the start of another normal day? no need for countdowns or celebration, it will just be taking a composed step into another year. .hello 2011, hello january.
& Lazy afternoons ...
