Sunny days & Starry nights ... Wednesday, August 04, 2010
When i am tired and in need of sleep, i become very short tempered - the tiniest glitch gets me and i lose the ability to consider perspectives. When i am angry i go silent and allow the anger to sizzle inside me. I start to ignore the people around me and put on a stern expressionless face. that's what i learnt abt myself today. .TODAY 4 AUG- Amarylis6thbirthdayC: It was a deeply moving, heartwarming and emotionally charged session; I could feel childhood all coming back to me again - the world of simplicity, of endless imagination & curiosity for the world, and of very sweet innocence you can find no where else..Seeing how the lil' children play, do their things, speak their hearts... brought up a whirlpool of feelings within me, & tears almost brimmed in my eyes as a surge of unexplainable feelings hit me. When i saw the genuine happiness emanating from the children as they revel in that moment of goodies, cake, company and love from their loved ones, I was deeply touched. Moments like this are enough to warm a jaded heart and make you believe in disneyland once more. As the lil' children held on to the certificate (upon completion of a workshop) , sat on the row of chairs, and smiled to the camera, i thought, what a sight to behold. and i willed myself to capture that very image in my heart and memory, something i want to remember and remind myself with when i find the world too cruel a place. To be honest, it was nothing grand or worthy to be listed as one's milestone in life, but to a child of barely 6 , even a little achievement felt like having conquered the world. because they still know how to be contented, and how to celebrate little things, that something we as adults have alr forgotten or taken for granted. .Then i thought, when was the last time i attended a 6 year old's birthday party? Having been present for this one makes me think back of the many birthday parties my parents have prepared for me as a child- the feeling of being loved and having the world revolve around you. My deepest impression must be my 8th birthday - the first time i invited my friends to join me ;) pictures do speak a million words, and i keep them safe in my memory bank. Early childhood must be the best days in my life, spent in the loving shelter of my parents and family and living with a knowing that you're safe and secure no matter what happens. There's alws someone to protect you. " In early childhood, our greatest untold poem was being only 4 years old. We skipped and ran and played all the sun long, never in our lives so busy, busy being something we had not quite grasped yet. Who knew our thoughts, which we worked up into small mythologies all our own? Our thoughts and images and drawings took wings. The blossoms of our heart, no wind could touch. Our small world widened as we discovered new refuges and new people. When we said " I" we meant something totally unique, not to be confused with any other . Early Childhood is a period so short but of such special significance in a lifespan, and that's why i have a wish/mission/dream to help those children deprived in one way or another to receive the best enjoyment they are rightfully entitled to from their childhood years. I believe in the magic of those years, and i believe that no child should be left behind.

" The greatest person even known
Is one all poets have outgrown;
The poetry, innate and untold,
Of being only four years old." - Christopher Morley-
