Sunny days & Starry nights ... Friday, April 24, 2009
today has been a good day, probably because i've finally adjusted to the working environment and routine ;) The kids are really tiny, the youngest being 18 months! Haha... and the 4 yr-olds are really really adorable and no doubt, very talkative. It's enjoyable being around so many toddlers and seeing just how innocent & "mouldable" they are. This N2 boy called erderyween keeps telling me how goood ben-10 is and he can talk non-stop for as long as he's around. He has really big round eyes and long long eyelashes! When he was about to go home he still remembered to wave goodbye to me; what a sweet lil' kiddo. I realised that this age group is the most verbal , but most are still lacking linguistic perfection.
Although these kids are put into the child care to be groomed and educated, i can't help but notice how little attention it was possible to give each child. To make it even less satisfactory, some teachers are just not trying hard enough to discharge their duty; what a disconcerting sight. These children are at the age where they are most receptive to the environment, and yet nobody is there to develop their potential. What a great great waste! And many of their parents are either too busy or not that well equipped enough to perform the role. BooHoo. That's one reason why i'd like to become a teacher, a kindergarten teacher especially.
Oh ya it was this N2 girl's birthday and her parents ordered a nearly $200 barney cake for her! It was delivered all the way to the center... bet it wouldn't even fit in the boot of the car. It was really really really BIG. After nap time, the kids were all gathered to sing a birthday song, how cute! Just imagine a whole big group of little humans, chubby and all, hahahaha... after the celebration i tried asking some N2 kids what flavour the cake was, and thier uniform answer was Strawberry. How very strange... it was obviously chocolate! Unless the cake has multiple flavours.. then they might be right 0.O
.
Anyways, my admin job is getting increasingly manageable and i'm beginning to find joy in what i'm tasked to do. It can be pretty interesting entertaining the parents and sorting out the childrens' particulars. It's like i have a hand in running the centre and a fairly important one, heehaw ;)
