Sunny days & Starry nights ... Friday, February 08, 2008
So here we are, having gone through 2 days of visiting and countless episodes of joy-making and haphazard eating. I must say that the rat year, thus far, has been rather monotonous, or perhaps a more accurate word , routined. Day 0 reunion's dinner, day 1's morning duo visit and night at grandmere's and come day two 2nd grandaunt's gathering. Yup, nothing much worth mentioning. Same faces that we see every year, same kids who congregate each year to play the same games, same delicacies, down to its layout. Perhaps one thing different is the lack of annual visits to flower nurseries and he pan. That might minus off some ambience. Whateva it is, it's still chinese new year. Somehow, i think i've forgotton how to have fun. It has been a while since i enjoyed myself thoroughly and i can't seem to rmb how is it that the fun came about. I'm one boring person. It must be the workload that's killing the soul in me. cos you know that all these "fun" will stop real soon and it kind of overpowers whateva fun you should be having. It's like this when you get older and start acquiring the adult sense to think and plan far ahead. It's no longer "playing without a care" . It's "playing with high self consciousness". This is apparent in every adolescent you see; one by one they opt out of the childish games and take to more serious fun. That's the way it is. Even i myself is getting jaded of spending new year as it is and somehow, somewhere in me, i'm looking for a greater thrill. Perhaps, maybe, that will come to me in time. Happy Rat Year everyone.
