And so there you have it, a morning like no other. The pure satisfaction and genuine happiness
felt from the deep deep bottom of my heart, is truely irreplaceable. Now, i know where true happiness lies.
Life ain't all about you. yourself.
It's about giving.
Giving what you have to those who are less fortunate
those who never had the chance to live a life like yours
let alone express and function like you .
You know there are so much waiting for you to do.
I finally felt for myself the joy you can actually get from making someone's day.
The joy, honestly, is beyond words.
You can only feel it and capture it at that very special moment.
and that moment,
shall be treasured and last.
Today is a really special day for me as it was the first time i ever had such close contact with people who are mentally disabled. Undeniably, i was pretty afraid of them before this and had zero, none idea of who they are, and how they live. After spending the morning at science center with a group of them, i came to realize that they are actually the simplest people. People who need our love and care.
I felt an unexplainable happiness when i saw how engaged and happy ( no other words) when wenwei was. Although i can't really communicate the intended ideas to him, there was this other pathway which made me connect. And that was the shared laughters. I know i had succeeded.
Doing volunteer work is really meaningful and most importantly, you have to do it with your heart. Be yourself and be true to your beneficiaries, and nothing will be too difficult to undertake. As i recall the objectives of this event, i thought, yes, they are not merely verbal lines or fixed meaning on a superficial outing, but real, genuine, true, sincere messages for us , volunteers , to achieve and amplify. one, grant the disadvantaged a happy day outta their routine, two, allow them to blend into the society and hopefully allow society to accept them. All 20-30 of us, with one Heart, went all out to make it happen. We created magic.
To sum it all up, today shall be my start to reach out to the community. Life isn't all about school, hopping into bandwagons and having fun for the sake of chilling out with your friends, doing what it takes maybe at all costs just to achieve your selfish goal , emerge victorious in competitions, betraying your conscience because you think that's how society functions.....
Even though at times , you feel that you are the only one out there who is sincere and true, remember to break out of the sphere and see with your heart. The world does not only consist of superficial people in a "rat race" , but also others in the community who care.
So yeah, you always have a choice to do what is right even when every one else conveniently give up theirs. I must constantly remind myself where true happiness lies.
& Lazy afternoons ...
